In the portfolio, you can see the Audio Playground that was part of Marc's first website, as well as the Klezmer Frog Band, an exercise using the Sound Object to allow the user to drag characters around the stage and thereby change the volume and stereo location of their sounds.

Here is the "cheesey" example of my early work for the Infoqwik portal page: http://www.dartfrogmedia.com/infoqwik/infoqwik.swf

Recommended books: Both of Colin Moock's ActionScript references. The latest is Essential ActionScript 2.0. But his earlier work, ActionScript for Flash MX: The Definitive Guide, Second Edition, is still a must-have, as it is more comprehensive and covers all the basics of ActionScript.

A prime online resource is http://chattyfig.figleaf.com, where you can subscribe to the Flash Coders list, the Flash Newbie list (deceptively named, as it addresses many advanced as well as beginner topics), and several other lists related to Flash development. There are also full archives that are easily searchable.

Here is the URL for my Flash music app that allows you to drag singing heads onto a keyboard to create up to 8-part harmonies: http://www.dartfrogmedia.com/edjohnson.

Here is the URL for the all-Flash webiste for Matman Uniforms, including the uniform builder: http://www.matmanwrestling.com.

Here is the photo gallery for Jace Rivers, which uses Flash and PHP to read and display the images in various folders on the website: http://www.jacerivers.com.

Here is an example of a project bid I prepared in Excel for a client. Correction: I mistakenly identified this as the bid for the Jace Rivers site. That site actually consumed only about 8 hours, not the 160 hours detailed in this example:
